Produced from mature vines on our estate, we performed a row by row selection and picked for flavors at the peak of ripeness. From there, the whole freshly-destemmed berries were pumped directly into new French Oak barrels whose heads had been removed. By fermenting directly in the new French Oak barrels, we are able to impart an added silkiness to the tannins and a rounder, more lush mouthfeel to the wine.  

Full-bodied, richly textured with equal amounts of elegance and power, the 2016 Umbral is loaded with ripe, dark black currant, cocoa, tobacco, blackberry, vanilla and cassis. The vintage shows excellent acidity and balance with a long powerful finish.
