'Suede' started as the vision of our talented winemaker, Bertus van Zyl. For many years, he roamed the vineyards, walking row by row learning the distinct flavor profile of each vine so that we could capitalize on vineyard diversity and pick each row when flavors and tannins reached optimal maturity. This passion encouraged us to push further and explore a new variety of maceration techniques, cooperages, and aging lengths.

Fresh yet layered, this wine opens with complex aromas of cocoa, anise and boysenberry, accented by hints of baker’s dark chocolate. The palate seduces with dense black fruits — crème de cassis, blueberry pie, kirsch and Black Forest cake — woven together with notes of sweet tobacco and graphite. Full-bodied and powerful, yet remarkably polished with refined, silky tannins that lend structure and balance. The finish is long and perfumed, echoing dark berries and warm spices. Plush and richly textured, the wine offers depth and intrigue with every sip.
